Kathy’s story takes a poignant turn with her youngest son, Alexander. Assigned female at birth and named Olivia, Alexander’s journey to self-acceptance was fraught with challenges. Kathy recalls the confusion and emotional turmoil that enveloped their family for several years as Alexander struggled with his identity.
From mood swings to severe depression, the Colaiacovo family faced a daunting period where they sought answers through psychologists and psychiatrists. The turning point came in 2016 when Alexander courageously came out as transgender. This revelation, though initially overwhelming, provided the clarity the family needed.
